A café in Australia gives it diners a chance to not only enjoy their meals, but also play with up to 15 cats and kittens while waiting for their desserts and beverages. This café has adopted cats and offers them as playmates for their customers. If the customers are smitten with the feline, they even offer them a chance to adopt the cat.
Over the years, the MeowMe Cat Café in West Lakes, Australia, have adopted and helped more than 80 cats find permanent homes. The café is partners with a volunteer group called Paws and Claws Adoptions to help find permanent homes for these homeless cats. Since the café has opened, they have been able to help find homes for close to a hundred felines. The cats that haven’t been adopted yet are taken care of at the café, where customers are free to play and pet them.
“We want to try and help the rescued animals as much as possible,” said Yvonne Wong, the owner of the café, “In the cafe, we have a lot more traffic than a lot of these adoption shelters so it is much easier to get people in to meet the cats.”
“People are able to really interact and get to know which cat they want to adopt as they have more time with them,” Wong said. “We don’t want people to commit to adopting a cat just by a picture, actually come in and get to know them.”
