A 17-year old deaf and partially blind dog is being called a hero in Australia after he miraculously found and stayed by the side of a lost 3-year old girl. According to the news, a 3-year old Aurora went missing last week after she went wandering on her own. When her guardians realized she was missing a search was made in that night, but they could not find her.
Then the next morning more than 100 State Emergency Services, local police, and volunteers resumed the search. They found the girl alive and safe with the family dog, Max. According to Kelly Benston, the partner of Aurora’s grandmother, Leisa Marie Bennet, the search party found the dog first. The dog then led the rescuers to Aurora.
“SUCH A GOOD BOY, MAX! He stayed with his 3-year-old human who was lost near Warwick last night while we frantically searched for her,” wrote Queensland Police in a post on social media. The post has gone viral and has been liked more than 28,000 times.
“I shot up the mountain … and when I got to the top, the dog came to me and led me straight to her,” Bennet said. She also said that the reunion was very emotional with a lot of tears from the grandparents. According to authorities, Aurora had suffered from minor cuts and abrasions but she was otherwise unharmed. Aurora and Max were found a mile away from her house. For his good work and heroic deeds, Max was named as an honorary police dog.
