An 8-year old dog was captured on photos trying to play with a statue. The dog was a border collie named Hurley who was walking with his owner Adam Shore on Crosby Beach at Liverpool. Adam and Hurley were just playing fetch when the dog suddenly noticed a human figure near where the ball was tossed.
The figure turned out to be a human statue. The statue was part of an installation by British sculptor Anthony Gormley called “Another Place”. Hurley thought it was a real man and dropped his toy ball at the statue’s feet, wagging his tail, and jumping around, inviting him to play catch. The entire thing was captured by Adam with his camera. He posted the pictures on social media where it quickly went viral.
“This is the first time he’s tried to play with a statue,” said Shore, “It was quite funny when he went up to it, and at one point, he looked at me to ask, ‘What’s going on?’ He’s not used to being ignored.” It took a few minutes before Hurley’s patience and attention ran out and he took his ball to someone who was willing to play.
“That’s Hurley all over. He’s 8 years old now, but he still thinks he’s a puppy,” Shore added, “He’s addicted to fetch and will play it with anyone. He’ll carry the ball up to everybody he sees to get them to throw the ball, usually when I’ve grown tired after an hour of playing.”
