Students Surprise Teacher Kittens After Her Cat Dies

Students surprise their grieving math teacher with treats and new pets.

Earlier this week, a few students decided to treat their favorite math teacher with a surprise. Their teacher had recently lost her cat and they decided to surprise her with two kittens and a bunch or treats. The students were very appreciative of everything that their teacher had done for them and they wanted to do something for her in her time of loss.

Their teacher is Tonya Andrews, who teaches at Joshua High in Texas. She was distraught when her cat of 16 years passed away. But her students decided to help her out with two adorable kittens. Two students Ashlei Mahan and Rachel Hanhart, decided to console their favorite math teacher with a few gifts, including balloons, homemade cupcakes, and a dozen roses.

But the surprise came when they also brought out two new kittens. The video was posted all over social media, where it quickly went viral. According to Andrews she first thought that the kittens belonged to her student. She was surprised and grateful when they suddenly gave them to her to keep.

“I cried pretty much every period that next day at school,” Andrews said “I thought something was afoot, however, when only half of my class was in my room second period the next day when the tardy bell rang. I was smiling so big by then because I could feel the love of the class,” Andrews said. “But then, Rachel walked in holding two precious kittens. Then she held them out to me and said they were mine. My heart was filled with joy.”
